Today, as I sat down and was reading my book, my oldest daughter who is 5 years looked through the window and called me to come and see. She was so excited and persistent so I gave in and went to see what was making her so excited.

As I approached the window, she asked “ mama, do you see what I’m seeing?”

still confused I responded no.

She then pointed to the trees outside and said look at the trees outside, theirs leaves have turned yellow and they are falling down. I asked her, why do you think they are yellow and falling?

She answered, “ because it is Autumn.”

well I guess her teachers have done well explaining the seasons of nature to her because she is completely right, it is Autumn or fall season, hence why the color of the trees have turned yellow and falling.

There are seasons when we blossom and seasons when we lose our leaves like the trees in Autumn

But the thing is Autumn is not the whole year. And so after Autumn comes another season.

The seasons of nature have been divided into four parts;

Spring ( March, April, May)

Summer (June, July, August)

Autumn or Fall  (September, October, November)

Winter ( December, January, February).

life, like other things, comprises of seasons.

“There is a time for everything  and a season for every activity under the heavens.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-10)

Therefore there is a season in our life when we were born. As babies, we learn to sit, then crawl, and learn to walk and talk.

Right from the day, we are born to the day we take our last breath, everything is ordered according to seasons.

Some seasons may be much easier than others but we experience them all in life.

Every stage in our lives is made up of seasons.

We go through a season in life when we are still young and living single lives with no big responsibilities.

From the season of singleness, some of us get married, start a family.

In this season we either give birth or adopt kids. We spend our time and resources raising our kids.

As a result, we give up a lot of our independence and spread ourselves to give to our families and kids.

After raising our children we enter into another season where our children leave home and we become empty nesters.

But these are not the only seasons in life we go through as human beings because in between singleness, marriage, raising children, and empty-nesting are other seasons.

We go through seasons of life where we gain friends and lose friends.

Another season in life could be dealing with the loss of a family or someone close to us, experiencing divorce, dealing with mental sickness, barrenness, heartbreak, gaining weight, or dealing with addiction.

Like the trees my daughter showed me today, we too go through a series of seasons where there are times when we experience Autumn, where we start to see our leaves turn yellow and begin to fall one after the other. This season is called Autumn.

Welcome Autumn!

We sometimes go through Autumn in our lives where we begin to experience drops of issues. In relationships, we may experience arguments, constant misunderstandings. We begin to experience one issue from one another and things begin to look very blur in our lives.

During this season, life becomes very confused we begin to lose hope.  To many of us, this season is very confusing time, since it takes us by surprise. As a result we isolate ourselves from others and wallow in our disappointments.

Yet, since it is Autumn, we experience a mixture of sun and rain altogether. There are days that it may be cold and days that it may be somewhat warm.  In this season, we try to hold on to things. We struggle in this season and become very hostile at times.

However, this season does not last forever, because Winter is ready.

It is Winter!

It doesn’t take long before winter shows its face and we enter into the deep cold.

Winter unlike Autumn does not have a combination of cold and warm.

For the trees, they lose all their leaves in the Winter. The trees become bald with no leaves at all leaving them extremely lonely and cold.

During this season in our lives as human beings, we may experience losses.  It could be loss of jobs, friends, family members, being in debt, experiencing breakups, divorces,  disappointment, or failures.

This is a very challenging season and so we may find ourselves blaming others or ask ourselves what we did wrong to deserve what we are facing.

But there is hope at the end of the tunnel.

The good news is that after the cold Winter we enter into Spring.

Hello Springtime!

Spring stands for HOPE.

During this season, we experience a spring of hope where dead trees begin to grow leaves again.

The good news is that they grow green leaves which signifies freshness and new beginnings.

In this season, we make new friends, start new business ventures, make plans, and start over.

Spring is a season for learning new things and experience life.

The spring molds and nurture us into who are called to be. So in your spring season, just relax and enjoy the process, because Summer is coming.

Is it Summer yet!

It is summer and the sun is finally up and shining bright.

The cold season is finally over and the leaves of the trees are finally blossoming.

Summer is a joyful season. Everything is finally in place and where they are supposed to be. The lonely and cold season is over so it is time for harvest.

Summer represents fruitfulness and productivity.

It is a time where there is an abundance of goodness and productivity so sit back and relax.

Seasons in life are normal and we all experience each season during our lifetime.

The things we go through in life are what builds us to become stronger.

Just as gold passes through the fire before it becomes gold, the same way the various seasons in life, build us to be stronger.

“At least there is hope for a tree: If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail. Its roots may grow old in the ground and its stump die in the soil, yet at the scent of water it will bud and put forth shoots like a plant.” (Job 14:7-9).

“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” (Proverbs 13:12)

As long as we live, we will continue to experience different seasons in our lives, because that is just how life really is about.

The most important thing is to know which season you are in at what particular time. Embrace the lessons that come with each season and learn from them.

Don’t lose hope when it is Winter season for you, because weeping may endure but for a night, there is JOY that is coming in the morning.

Understand that no matter how long it takes, your spring and summer are on the way.

You just need to hang in there a little longer.

Don’t give up on this season because your season of abundance is coming and you will enjoy it.

The bible says that

“ but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like
they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31)
